Exciting News from The Brain Kitchen!

We have some exciting news to share from the team at The Brain Kitchen! For those who are unfamiliar with their work, they are an afterschool program that mixes mentoring with learning to make bread and soup. This community space and teaching kitchen works directly with low-income kids affected by trauma from the surrounding neighborhood of Indiana Wesleyan University.

Last week, we learned that The Brain Kitchen officially has a home! They have received an 1880’s home on the property of the local library, a beautifully preserved home with a new roof and a blank slate inside. The home has all the charm and character of an old home, but with modern updates like being entirely handicap accessible. This is wonderful news for The Brain Kitchen and we are so excited for the road ahead! In partnership with a local student group focused on “Design for Social Impact,” they are having a $10,000 kitchen installed in the home within the next month.

This week, they are having a mini-pilot of their program which officially will launch at the end of January. Congratulations, Brain Kitchen, and we look forward to seeing that new kitchen and the launch of your program!
