Ministry Incubators is on the Ministry Architects Podcast!

Ministry Architects is a group of coaches, consultants, and experts in church health, systems, and staffing. Ministry Incubators and Ministry Architects have long shared staff, resources, leadership (even a founder) and we are excited to be continuing to play in the same sandbox as our friends! A few weeks ago, Ministry Incubators coach and project manager Kerwin Webb joined the hosts of the Ministry Architects Podcast to talk about Hatchathons, how to engage with resistance, and more!

You should check out the whole episode here, but here’s a few takeaways I wanted to highlight:

What you’re doing now isn’t working, so why not try something different? Resistance often comes from fear or a lack of clarity.

We’ve talked a lot about resistance lately (here, here, here, and here) but Kerwin yes-and-ed all of those experiences and framed resistance has a helpful piece of feedback to where your idea isn’t clear enough.

When people see their idea being heard and acted on, it sparks momentum across the church.

Kerwin pointed out that when leaders have even small successes, it can create beautiful knock-on effects. People can begin to be inspired to believe that change really is possible and that God really is at work in their community.

People might say ‘We don’t have time to [innovate]’ you don’t have time to not [innovate]!

Kerwin pointed out that people get sucked into repeating the same work over and over again that they know isn’t working because they feel stretched too thin to try something else. He and the hosts re-framed those “quadrant 2” (important, not urgent) problems as “quadrant 1” (important, and urgent) ones.

Check out the podcast episode for more of my good friend Kerwin’s wisdom and his lively conversation with our friends and partners at Ministry Architects!
